Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My page looks the same after I edit it and save changes? It seems like the edit feature doesn't work.
Your internet browser is storing pages that you view in cache memory. So when you go to view a page on the internet your browser will pull the page out of the cache memory instead of reloading it. This is useful when you are browsing the internet because it takes less time to view pages that you have already been to. However, it causes problems when you are editting your website. You will make changes and then try to view them and it will look like nothing changed - that is because you are actually viewing the old page instead of the updated one.

If you are using Internet Explorer then you need to do this:
In the tool bar on the top of the Internet Explorer Browser there are buttons that say "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, etc". Go into the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options". Then go into "Settings" for "Temporary Internet Files". Under where it says "Check for newer versions of stored pages" check the box next to "Every visit to the page". Then click "OK".
If you are using Netscape Navigator you need to do this:
At the top of the Netscape browser go into the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences". Under "Category" click the "+" sign next to "Advanced" and click on "Cache". Under where it says "Document in cache is compared to document on network:" check the box next to "Every Time". Then click "OK".

Q: Where can I find help on editting my pages with HTML?
There are several sites on the web that have tutorials and instructions for HTML code. Some recommended sites are: http://html.myzipbiz.com , www.htmlgoodies.com or www.webmonkey.com.

Q: What is my default domain name?
    It is http://myzipbiz.com/members/username

Q: How come my custom and blank pages are not showing up as links in the menu bar on any of my pages?
When you add a custom or blank page a box that says "Has Links To" will appear under edit for each page. You need to 'highlight' the pages that you want to have links to for that particular page. You can select more than one by pressing the 'control' or 'ctrl' button. You need to go into edit for each page and select the links. The "Has Links To" box will not appear until you have added a custom or blank page. The name that you enter as the "Menu Text" is what will appear in the link box.

Q: What is the purpose of selecting the links for each page?
This allows you to create a 'tree.' If you have 50 pages you might not want to have 50 links on each page. For example you might have 5 custom pages: Ford Cars, Mustangs, Thunderbirds, Taurus', and Pintos. You can set it up so each page has a link to the 'Ford Cars' page and then the links to the different types of Fords are only on the 'Ford' page.

Q: How do I retrieve my email that was sent to username@myzipbiz.com?
You have 2 options. You can go into 'Account' and forward your email to an already existing account of yours. Or you can set up MS Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger to retrieve it for you. There are instructions on how to set this up under 'Email.'

Q: How can I get the Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer browser?
Go to www.netscape.com and click on the 'download' icon on the top of the page. Select version 4.76 and download it to your computer. It is free and may take up to 2 hours to complete. You can do that same for Internet Explorer if you go to Microsoft.com. Download version 5.5.

Q: Can I transfer pages made with another utility to my MZB site?
MZB will support standard HTML and java script. If you made a page with another HTML utility then the source code can be copied and pasted on to a blank page. Go to Copy the Source for instructions.
